Amazing, Breathtaking, Phenomenal, Astounding, Remarkable, Marvelous there are so many words to describe last nights monumental performance in Los Angeles.
Throughout the concert I heard tiny tidbits of fans reactions to the show
“I can’t believe I’m actually here”
“I can’t believe this”
“Is this real life”
“They are fucking killing it”
“Marry me Yukimi!!”
Little Dragon can do no wrong, they top every single show I’ve seen in the past which is crazy to say because I always end a show telling my friend “Best Show Ever, how could they top this”
I arrived to the venue early, as always, to secure a spot in line to make sure I grab a front row seat. Arriving to the venue early was one of the best decisions I have ever made. When I arrived with my friend, we, for some reason were the only ones to arrive at the time. Seeing that there was no one around, we of course headed inside to find out what was happening. To our surprise, we were greeted to the band beginning their sound check. We were so enthralled we didn’t walk into the venue due to sheer nervousness. Eventually we did make it all the way into the venue after some reassurance from Yukimi herself, I was shaking with excitement! The sound check was so amazing, I loved seeing the band interact and see how their dedication to the music. During the end of the sound check, Yukimi started to make her way off the stage and made her way towards the area where myself and a few other fans were watching. I’m speaking for the 6 of us standing there, when I say we were absolutely starstruck. She came up to the VIP section and did an impromptu meet and greet with us. She chatted for a while, and took a few pictures. She is honestly the sweetest, most humble person I’ve ever met. An amazing moment in my life.
I really don’t think I’m able to aptly describe this show without restating the same things over and over again. The show was iconic to say the least. I’ve watched and been to quite a few shows, I can say truthfully I have never seen the band at this level. The set list was amazing, the lights were amazing, the crowd was amazing, the sound was amazing. The Avalon is a rather large venue, it’s huge. Every single square foot of that place was occupied with a fan. The crowd was so live and vocal we got the band to do TWO ENCORES!
The first encore ended with Yukimi belting out the fan favorite Twice, which was so beautifully performed. The crowd loved it, everyone in the front row that night was singing along enjoying every moment. After the song finished up, the band exited the stage in normal Little Dragon fashion. When the lights came on not a single soul moved. We were cheering for a solid 3 minutes even as the club staff were trying to wade us out, we needed more. The staff was clearly mistaking the crowd for run-of-the mill-fans, we are Little Dragon fans, it’s a serious fan base. Our cheers were of course an incentive for the band to come back on stage and play one more song. The band chose the fantastic “Live Version” of Swimming. We were treated to 20 solid minutes of Euphoric dancing and singing. The standout moment of this encore was Mr. Fredrik Källgren’s dancing. He was really letting loose and letting the music take over. He stepped away from his keyboard to the middle of the stage and began to dance that only rivaled that of Yukimi.
